Experience Nottingham’s most exciting spoken-word talent in a showcase curated by 15 GOBS Collective members, co-directed by Cara Thompson and Bridie Squires. These poets have built work from the ground up as part of a group development process, bringing individual stories together to create this GOBS Collective Showcase. Created in partnership with Apples and Snakes, with support from Nottingham Central Library and Nottingham Playhouse.
Founded in 2020, Nottingham adult spoken-word collective GOBS host poetry performances, workshops, events, book clubs, masterclasses and education programmes, meeting on a quarterly basis (spring, summer, autumn, winter) with various projects and opportunities rolling out throughout the year. GOBS host showcases, publish anthologies, and have performed alongside Yomi Sode, Randolph Matthews, Casey Bailey, and Debris Stevenson.
GOBS currently works in partnership with Apples and Snakes, with support from Nottingham Playhouse and Nottingham Central Library. Past partners and supporters include Arts Council England, Nottingham Community Artists Network, Five Leaves Bookshop, Curated and Created by Nottingham Trent University, Mimm Studios, Broadway Cinema, Castle Rock, Theatre Royal Nottingham, Dizzy Ink, The Carousel, The Angel Microbrewery, Phlexx, Nonsuch Studios, WRAP Live! and Nottingham Poetry Festival.
