Love Nottingham · v1

Community Guidelines

Effective 31 October 2026

Love Nottingham is for sharing useful, genuine local and travel knowledge. These guidelines apply to reviews, photographs, places, questions, answers, itineraries, comments, profiles and other user contributions. They supplement our Terms of Service and Review & Moderation Policy.

1. Be truthful and useful

Describe what you personally know, clearly distinguishing first-hand experience from general information or opinion. Give a fair picture, including relevant positives and negatives. Don't invent visits, facilities, ratings, opening hours or events. Don't flood listings with near-duplicate content or automatically generated material that hasn't been checked for accuracy. If you use AI assistance, take responsibility for accuracy, originality and any required disclosure.

2. Respect other people

Criticise experiences or services rather than attacking people. Do not harass, threaten, bully, stalk, incite hatred, use discriminatory slurs or promote violence. Don't publish sexual exploitation material or content that facilitates harm to children. Avoid gratuitously graphic or sexually explicit material on ordinary place and travel pages. Keep disputes civil; do not organise campaigns of harassment against a person or business.

3. Respect privacy and consent

Do not post home addresses, private phone numbers, identity documents, financial details, login credentials or other non-public personal information without a lawful basis and appropriate permission. Take particular care with identifiable children and people in vulnerable situations. Ask permission where needed before uploading close-up images of individuals. You may be asked to blur or remove identifying details, including faces and vehicle plates.

4. Only post material you can use

Post your own photographs and writing, or material you have the necessary licence to publish. Crediting the photographer alone does not give you permission. Do not copy copyrighted descriptions, reviews or images from another travel guide, Google, social media or a business website without rights to do so. Report alleged infringements under our Copyright & Takedown Policy.

5. No fake reviews, spam or manipulation

Do not submit or procure fabricated reviews, pay for positive reviews, threaten to leave negative reviews for compensation, operate fake accounts or manipulate ratings. Disclose relationships with any business you discuss, including employment, ownership, family connections and any gifts or benefits. Unless specifically permitted with clear disclosure, commercial or incentivised reviews may be rejected. Businesses must never suppress honest criticism or impersonate customers.

Promotional posts, repetitive links, referral schemes, phishing, malware and unsolicited advertising are not permitted in community sections. Businesses must use the authorised publishing and promotion features and identify advertising where required.

6. Add useful place information

Choose accurate titles, categories and addresses. Avoid invented locations and duplicate listings. Distinguish permanent places from temporary events; include reliable dates where appropriate. Accessibility, safety, allergens, opening times and prices are particularly important: provide a source or indicate uncertainty where possible, and correct information when you know it has changed.

7. Helpful answers and replies

Answer questions in good faith; do not deliberately mislead users or use the Q&A area as disguised marketing. Business representatives should identify themselves in official replies and respond professionally. A reply must not disclose a reviewer's personal information or pressure them to withdraw a genuine review.

8. How moderation works

Publication is at our editorial discretion. We review submissions before or after publication and may reject any submission that falls outside our community standards or editorial requirements. This includes offensive, abusive, discriminatory, harassing, threatening, explicit, misleading, spammy, irrelevant, duplicate or low-quality posts. We may hide or remove published material, make technical or formatting edits, ask for evidence or clarification, or restrict an account. Offensive posts can result in a permanent ban, including after a single serious incident. Other outcomes include reminders, warnings, temporary restrictions or suspension. We consider seriousness, context and repeat behaviour; urgent or unlawful material may be removed without prior notice.

Criticism, disagreement and truthful negative reviews are not automatically offensive or prohibited. We do not remove genuine criticism solely at the request of a paying business. We apply these powers consistently with our legal responsibilities and any applicable notice and complaints obligations.

We aim to apply these guidelines consistently and not favour paying businesses. We will provide reporting, explanation and complaint/appeal options where applicable. We may retain moderation records when reasonably needed for safety, legal obligations and dispute handling, consistent with our Privacy Policy.

9. Report a concern

Please report suspected fake reviews, unsafe content, personal-data exposure, impersonation or harassment to [email protected], including the content URL and why it concerns you. Do not post sensitive evidence publicly. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the relevant emergency service rather than relying on this reporting channel.

These guidelines take effect on 31 October 2026 and may be updated with appropriate notice.
